LGBTQ Book Love
About & Mission
How It All Began
Representation belongs on every bookshelf
LGBTQ Book Love was started in July 2023 by a member of Real Mama Bears who was frustrated by the anti-LGBT legislation coming from the Ohio Statehouse. What began as a grassroots response has grown into a movement powered by volunteers, families, and donors who all share one belief: representation matters.
Since that time, we have delivered more than 1700 books to 33 Ohio counties. Each book placed is a reminder that LGBTQ+ stories belong in every community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide free access to books representing lived experiences for LGBTQ+ community members of all ages, and to support literacy and diversity for all LGBTQ+ Ohioans.
Who We Serve
Books are shared with families, Little Free Libraries, LGBTQ+ organizations, community centers, and Pride events throughout Ohio — wherever they are needed most.
Nonprofit Status
LGBTQ Book Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 99-3690620).
Who We Are

Thank you so much for passing my books out at Pride this year! It means so much to have Bi representation, I truly appreciate all you do for the LGBTQ+ community and for literature as a whole.
Nik
So glad you are giving LGBTQ+ books away at Pride events. Kids need these books and access to them is harder than ever.
Meridth
In spite of banned books everywhere, we shall get these everywhere!
Zarai
“Sparkle Boy” and “Julian is a Mermaid” were two books that helped my Reason find the words she needed to tell us how she was feeling.
